In a recent coup, South Australian born and Australian Basketball forward Abby Bishop, is the latest to sign with MAC Adelaide Lightning.
A former WNBL MVP recipient in 2015 and WNBA Champion in 2010, Abby will be an asset to the new look MAC Adelaide Lightning team.
Chris Lucas, Head Coach of the MAC Adelaide Lightning is extremely happy with the signing “Abby is a proven Olympian, she is an extremely competitive player who will lead by example with her work ethic. She has a very high basketball IQ and with her natural leadership, will make this program better”.
Currently playing in France for Tarbes Gespe Bigorre where former Adelaide Lightning Players, Jo Hill, Carla Boyd and Jenny Whittle played before her, Abby will be a star player for the 2017 / 2018 WNBL season.
GM of the MAC Adelaide Lightning Mandy Spear spoke about the signing “We are incredibly excited to have a South Australian of Abby’s calibre representing the MAC Adelaide Lightning for the 2017/18 season. Not only is her signing great for the league, it is great for South Australian Basketball at all levels, and for Women’s Sport”.
Abby who has averaged 13.8 points a game, 8.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists in her WNBL career brings a wealth of experience and on the back of signing Aimie Clydesdale the MAC Adelaide Lightning are taking shape as a major competitor in the coming season.
Chris Lucas further added “Abby is a person I have admired for a long time, she is a marquee signing for us as a South Australian and we are extremely pleased to have her as part of the Adelaide Lightning program.”
