Requiring a sweep of the final weekend of the regular season to earn home court advantage in the Semi-Finals, Jennifer Hamson led the Brydens Sydney Uni Flames into second spot on the ladder with a dominant performance in the paint.

The Flames hosted Townsville in an important match-up on Friday night and Hamson set the tone with a steal on their first possession before tallying six points and an assist in an 18-8 opening to the contest.

She then added another eight points in the second period, four of which came from offensive rebounds and her ability to seal a strong position under the rim ensured her field goal percentage remained high.

Leading by seven points at half-time, Sydney Uni put the game to rest with a 28-20 third term with Hamson scoring four points before earning some well-earned time on the bench.

She returned to the court to finish with 24 points on 11-16 shooting and nine rebounds by the final siren and the form the centre was showing even saw her step out for two made jump shots outside the paint in the 107-81 demolition.

On New Year’s Eve, the Flames needed one last win over Bendigo to cement second position and Hamson asserted herself at the defensive end with three rejections to half-time.

She helped hold the Spirit to just 23 points while Sydney Uni led by 19 and with the game wrapped up, Hamson was able to play sporadic minutes before claiming a double-double with 2:40 remaining in the game, finishing with ten points, ten rebounds and four blocks.

Round 13 Jennifer Hamson Stats: 17 points, 9.5 rebounds, one steal and 2.5 blocks per game.
