ROUND 7 TEAM OF THE WEEK

November 27, 2018 | WNBL news

The Round 7 Team of the Week features two JCU Townsville Fire players as well as regulars from Deakin Melbourne Boomers, University of Canberra Capitals and Bendigo Bank Spirit.

Tess Madgen earns her place after being awarded the Round 7 Player of the Week nomination. A flawless game of 15 points, 14 assists, three steals and no turnovers helped the Fire escape in overtime against the Spirit on Saturday.

Suzy Batkovic was also an integral part of the victory at both ends of the floor, recording 25 points (eight of which came in the fourth quarter), 16 rebounds, a steal and four blocks.

Her battle with Becca Tobin was enthralling viewing and while the Spirit were unable to come away with a win, Tobin’s performance more than warranted a Team of the Week nomination as she tallied a monster double-double of 26 points, 19 rebounds, four assists, a steal and four blocks.

Lindsay Allen’s run of Player of the Week awards has come to an end but she makes another Team of the Week after averaging 21 points, six rebounds, 5.5 assists and two steals as Melbourne split their weekend.

The Boomers’ loss came at the hands of the UC Capitals and Kelsey Griffin who continues to make a case for an inaugural MVP after she collected 16 points, 18 boards, an assist and a steal.

Honourable Mentions: Kia Nurse (UC Capitals), Bec Cole (Dandenong), Asia Taylor (Perth), Jenna O’Hea (Melbourne), Nia Coffey (Adelaide).
