A stunning and highly efficient performance from Liz Cambage has earned her Player of the Week as she owned the front court for the Deakin Melbourne Boomers in a Round 9 thrashing of the University of Canberra Capitals.

Scoring 38 points on 16-18 shooting (88%), Cambage also tallied 13 rebounds, two assists and a steal to claim her fourth Player of the Week award of the 2017/18 season.

The Boomers entered the contest on a two-game losing streak but ensured the Caps never had a chance as they began the game with a 13-0 start before leading by 22 points at quarter-time.

Cambage started the game with a three-point play and recorded the first five points of the game for Melbourne while out-scoring the opposition with 11 points at the first break.

Canberra showed their resilience though, cutting into a 31-point deficit at one stage and making it a 14-point game early in the final term.

Cambage was not going to let the visitors pull off a miracle comeback though, scoring the first 15 points of the fourth period for the Boomers which all came in the space of three and a half minutes while she also recorded her double-double during that time.

One more jumper for good measure finished off her night as she tallied 17 points for the last quarter to lead the Boomers to a 92-72 victory which also moved the team back into third spot on the ladder.

Round 9 Liz Cambage Stats: 38 points on 16-18 shooting (88%) including 6-10 free-throw shooting, 13 rebounds (three offensive), two assists and one steal with no turnovers.
