Dandenong Basketball is happy to announce that Stephanie Reid will make her national league debut with the Jayco Rangers, signing on as a squad member for the 2018-19 WNBL Season.
Stephanie has spent the past four years starring for the Buffalo Bulls, leading them to two NCAA Division 1 tournament appearances and finishing her college career as Buffalo’s assists record-holder.
Now back in Australia ready to begin her pro-career, Stephanie is excited to start a new chapter of her basketball life, one which she can share with her family.
“Being a Victorian junior I know Dandenong is a great club, somewhere I can really grow my game”, said Stephanie. “Dandenong is also really close to home for me so I’ll have the opportunity to play in front of my family, which is something I missed over the past four years.”
Those four years spent at Buffalo were the most successful in Bulls history, with Stephanie pushing the team into their first NCAA tournament appearance in 2016 after an incredible Mid-American Conference (MAC) tournament. Winning the MAC tournament MVP, Stephanie hit the tournament-winning shot in overtime with an incredibly clutch floater.
But for Steph the highlight was their 2018 tournament appearance, defeating Little Rock and 3-seed Florida State to earn their way into the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.
“Our 2018 Sweet Sixteen tournament run was definitely my college career highlight, especially in our home state”, said Steph. “Getting to play in Albany in front of so many people was really exciting, something I’ll never forget.”
Known for her defensive tenacity and playmaking skills, Stephanie’s game will develop quickly under the tutelage of Jayco Rangers veterans Tessa Lavey & Amelia Todhunter who she will no doubt look to emulate during her time in Dandenong. A hard-working and resilient player, Stephanie is someone who typifies the DBA style of play and someone Rangers Head Coach Larissa Anderson can’t wait to work with.
“’Steph is an exciting young talent coming off a great College career”, said Anderson. “Steph is a great play maker, can score herself and plays very aggressively defensively which fits really well with our style of play and will give us exciting depth to maintain our style of play. Steph is a really hard worker and extremely competitive which is going to be a lot of fun to work with!”
The 2018-19 WNBL Season will kick off in October, with the WNBL19 schedule to be released soon. For all Jayco Rangers updates follow us on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter or visit www.dandenongbasketball.com.au
