Ally Malott Signing

Dandenong Basketball is very excited to announce the signing of current WNBA Washington Mystics star Ally Malott to the Jayco Rangers for the WNBL 16/17 season.

Ally comes to the Rangers after an outstanding 2015, leading the University of Dayton Flyers to the NCAA Elite Eight and securing a spot on the Washington Mystics roster, drafted 8th overall in the 2015 WNBA draft. Currently in her 2nd season with the Mystics, she recently scored 10pts in a Mystics win earlier this month.

Ally expressed her excitement to DBA after signing on, stating that she hopes to help build on the Jayco Rangers successful 2015-16 campaign.

“I’m really thankful for this opportunity to play in Australia and the WNBL”, said Ally. “I’ve heard great things about the league and team so far, and I hope to be able to help build on the success the Jayco Rangers had last season.”

One of the top scorers and rebounders in Dayton Flyers history, Ally brings a strong and balanced game to the Rangers team. Able to defend and rebound inside the paint, Ally also brings hot three-point shooting to the Rangers, averaging 41% from deep for 2015’s NCAA Division 1 season.

Elite Teams Administration Manager Trish Fallon told Dandenong Basketball that she is overjoyed to have the WNBA star on board, stating that Ally’s style of game will be ‘very suited to the Rangers style of play’.

“We’re very excited to have Ally join the Rangers program following her current commitment with the Washington Mystics WNBA team”, said Fallon. “At 6-4, Ally plays power forward in a way that really stretches the defence, as she hurts teams with her accurate perimeter shot. She’s also a really intelligent player who can use her offensive skills to score and then use her outstanding court vision to find the open teammate. We’re very much looking forward to welcoming her to the Rangers family”

With the addition of Ally to the Jayco Rangers for the 2016-17 WNBL season, the team is shaping up to be a very talented, well-balanced and exciting team that will make for another great season ahead.

Head Coach Larissa Anderson told Dandenong Basketball that she’s really looking forward to working with Ally, stating that she ‘ticks all the boxes’.

“Ally is a very exciting talent, a player who at 6′ 4″ can play multiple positions for us”, said Anderson. “She ticks all the boxes as a versatile forward and will be a great fit for the Jayco Rangers both on and off the court”.

Stay tuned to to keep up with all Rangers news and signings, as we get closer and closer to the start of the WNBL season.
