The first Jayco Rangers home game in Traralgon went off without a hitch on Saturday, as your Dandenong stars comfortably handled the Canberra Capitals in a 82-63 victory.
Dandenong moved ahead of the Capitals on the ladder and secured the season series against their opponents, having led from start to finish and by as much as 35 points in a strong performance.
Taking the game to Traralgon, Steph Cumming led the way with 18 points, Sara Blicavs had eight points, eight rebounds and four steals while Jacinta Kennedy tallied 12 points and three steals in a strong outing off the bench. For the visitors, Marianna Tolo, Kate Gaze and Mikaela Ruef all scored 11 points but the home team hurt them with 22 points off turnovers.
Never giving up, the Capitals kept fighting to claw their way back into the game, forcing the ball into the paint to get some quick offence from Tolo at the start of the second half. But the Rangers quickly cottoned on and shut that option down, forcing the Canberra guards to take long shots they just couldn’t hit.
We now look ahead to another huge rivalry clash against the Melbourne Boomers this Sunday, as we look to keep our winning momentum up against the Boomers after claiming victory in the Cup Day Eve blockbuster. Make sure you get behind your Rangers and fill Dandenong Stadium this Sunday! We want to see the stands filled with Rangers GREEN.
