The future of the Jayco Rangers is looking very bright, with Dandenong Basketball proud to announce the re-signing of young superstar Lauren Scherf for two more seasons, through to 2017-18!
2015’s Rookie Of The Year, Lauren backed up her great play in her 2015-16 season with the Rangers, playing valuable at the centre spot to help the Rangers to third on the WNBL ladder.
“I’m really excited to be rejoining this Jayco Rangers team for the next two seasons”, said Lauren. “I loved the atmosphere of Dandenong and I loved playing with the girls last season, as they’re such a great group. If you can’t tell, I’m excited”.
Lauren’s growth as a player has continued in SEABL 2016, where averaging a double-double with 16.6ppg and 14.2rpg. Her work on the defensive end has been second to none, leading Head Coach Larissa Anderson to label Lauren one of the most gifted young bigs in the WNBL, and perhaps the world.
“Lauren is such an atheletic, gifted player with the potential to become one of the true dominant bigs in the WNBL and internationally”, said Anderson. “Already she can out sprint even the most athletic bigs and guards, and is working really hard in the off season and showing fantastic improvement every session, every game. I am really looking forward to seeing Lauren blossom in the upcoming season.”
A player full of promise and potential, Lauren has already represented Australia at the FIBA U/19 World Championships, played multiple seasons of WNBL & SEABL and has been an MVP-candidate so far in SEABL 2016, after being awarded several Player & Team Of The Week accolades for her on-court work this season.
Elite Teams Administration Manager Trish Fallon told Dandenong Basketball she was overjoyed to have re-signed Lauren for two years, calling her “one of the best up and coming frontcourt players in the WNBL”.
“At just 20 years of age Lauren has a bright future and to have her as part of the Jayco Rangers program provides a great future for both Lauren and the DBA”, said Fallon. “Lauren is currently averaging 16 points & 14 rebounds in SEABL, showcasing her potential and basketball abilities that she will no doubt bring to our WNBL squad”.
We’ve re-signed quite a few stars but we’ve still got a few tricks up our sleeve Rangers fans, stay tuned…..
