Dandenong Basketball is very excited to announce the return of sharpshooting guard Natalie Novosel to the Jayco Rangers for WNBL 16/17.
Three years on and fresh off winning a WNBL Championship with the Townsville Fire, Natalie returns to the Dandenong Jayco Rangers, as she joins a squad looking to make a deep run into the WNBL Finals.
Natalie told Dandenong Basketball she’s looking forward to rejoining a competitive Jayco Rangers squad, stating she’s ready to make a bigger impact this time around.
“When I first came to the club I felt really raw professionally”, said Natalie. “Now with three years of experience and learning under my belt, I’m excited to be coming back and taking on a more impactful role and leadership position”.
One of the best three-point shooters in the league, Natalie averaged 49% from deep last season, a key factor in the Fire’s WNBL championship-winning run.
Head Coach Larissa Anderson told Dandenong Basketball that Natalie’s skillset will ‘perfectly compliment’ the existing team, adding that her on and off-court attitude stands out as one of the best in the league.
“It’s fantastic to have someone of Nat’s calibre join our team”, said Anderson. “Her aggression, work ethic and great team attitude really suits our program. Nat will complement our squad nicely l and I am really looking forward to working with her as we look to make WNBL 16-17 a big season for the Jayco Rangers.”
A former WNBA Top 10 draftee, Natalie spent her 15-16 season with Townsville as the hot shooting outside balance to WNBL MVP Suzy Batkovic’s dominant inside presence, adding tough perimeter defence that she will no doubt bring to the Rangers.
Elite Teams Administration Manager Trish Fallon has so far kept the main roster from 15-16 together, but told Dandenong Basketball that Natalie’s attitude and skillset will blend in perfectly with an already great Rangers squad.
“Nat’s work ethic, mental toughness, and her ability to score and defend against the three perimeter positions makes for a great signing for the Jayco Rangers”, said Fallon. “Nat is a perfect fit for our program on and off the court and we look forward to welcoming her back to the Rangers family.”
This 2016-17 WNBL season is shaping up to be a big one Rangers fans! Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer and closer to the season’s tip off.
