Your Jayco Rangers have grabbed another win over their long-time rivals, defeating the Melbourne Boomers 78-69 at Dandenong Stadium.
Leading from start to finish, the Jayco Rangers jumped out to a 24-9 lead midway through the first quarter, running through and past the Boomers defense.
Shooting hot from both inside and out, Rangers guards Aimie Clydesdale and Steph Cumming managed to slice their way into the paint, getting either easy lay-ups or great kickouts to teammates.
Melbourne’s cold shooting only compounded those defensive woes, failing to get any offensive consistancy in the first half.
Rebecca Cole and Kelly Bowen managed to pick the Boomers offense back up in the second half to pull the Rangers lead back to 8 late, but couldn’t claw their way back to a threatening margin.
Co-captain Steph Cumming once again led the way for the Rangers in scoring, putting up 22 points to go along with 4 rebounds and 3 assists, whilst also holding Boomers guard Alice Kunek to just 1-8 shooting.
The win moves the Jayco Rangers to a 6-3 record for the season, further cementing their spot in the WNBL’s top four! It’s been a great start to the season so far Rangers fans, let’s keep the ball rolling this week when we take on Adelaide Lightning this Saturday at home!
