The good news keeps coming for Jayco Rangers fans: Dandenong Basketball is happy to announce that Steph Cumming has re-signed with the Rangers for the next two seasons!

The WNBL Defensive Player Of The Year will rejoin the Rangers for a big upcoming season, as we look to keep the 15-16 group together for another shot at WNBL Finals glory.

‘I’m very excited to be back” said Steph. “We had a great team last year and hopefully we’ve got the bulk of the team coming back. That team made finals so hopefully we can go a couple better this time”.

Steph had an outstanding WNBL season in 15-16, winning the Rangers MVP, being selected to multiple Opals training squads and finishing in the Top 10 of League MVP voting.

Head Coach Larissa Anderson told Dandenong Basketball that she’s thrilled to have Steph back for two more seasons, citing her quality both on and off the court.

“Steph is in WNBL career best form, showing time and time again how deadly her offensive game is and then also getting it done on the defensive end”, said Anderson. “She is an extremely hard worker that lifts the rest of the group and I am looking forward to another great year ahead from her.”

Steph was quick to throw some praise back on to Larissa, stating that her coach is always helping herself and the team improve on the court.

“Individually I’m really hoping to take on more of a leadership role”, said Steph. “Hopefully I can improve on whatever skills I can, Larissa is really good at that, she always seems to pick up things we can improve on and focus on at training”.

This marks the second player announcement of the season for the Rangers, as Steph joins Sara Blicavs in a team looking to go a few steps further after making the WNBL Semi Final in 15-16.

Dandenong Basketball Elite Teams Administration Manager Trish Fallon stated that Steph re-signing was great news for both the Jayco Rangers & the Greater Dandenong community, again praising Steph’s strong work ethic.

“A fan favourite on and off the court, Steph is one of the hardest working players who will play a major role in the success of the Dandenong Jayco Rangers the next two seasons”, said Fallon. “We will again look at being proactive in the community and Steph will be a big part of this in showcasing basketball to the Greater Dandenong community”

Stay tuned Rangers fans! We’ll have more exciting player announcements to come….
