Head Coach and Coaching Panel

CHRIS LUCAS – HEAD COACH

Lucas has an exemplary career as a coach and is recognised for his passion and advocacy of women’s sport. In his almost 30-year career, Lucas has only ever worked in women’s basketball leagues.

Lucas has coached in domestic and international basketball, most recently as Head Coach of WNBL team the Adelaide Lightning and as the Assistant Coach of the Australian Opals which won a silver medal at the 2018 World Cup in Spain. When coaching Townsville Fire, Lucas led the teams to two consecutive WNBL Championships.

Lucas has completed his first season at the helm of the Deakin Melbourne Boomers – a season in which the team reached the semi-final stage, narrowly missing out on a second-straight finals berth.

KRISTI HARROWER – ASSISTANT COACH

Harrower is one of Australia’s most decorated players, having won three silvers and a bronze as a member of the Opals at the Olympic level. Harrower has also enjoyed incredible success at the WNBL level where she led her teams to three championships, was named the WNBL MVP in 2009-10, and was also recognised as the 2013 Defensive Player of the Year.

Harrower has also played at the highest league level, having spent seven seasons in the WNBA. She brings a wealth of experience to the club as an assistant to Coach Lucas, and is just beginning what is expected to be a long and successful coaching journey.
