The Deakin Melbourne Boomers got the chance to meet thousands of potential WNBL fans with huge crowds flocking to Deakin University’s Open Day on Sunday August 28.
“It was incredible, the amount of people looking at their education options at Deakin University was fantastic, the crowds were huge,” said new Boomers recruit Tegan Cunningham, one of six players to make an appearance at the Open Day.
“Deakin offers world-class facilities and a great range of subjects. For a moment there I felt like I was a student, there was just so much to see and do.
“It was a really enjoyable visit, we met so many new supporters, they all wished us well for the coming season and looked forward to coming to the State Basketball Centre to see the team play,” added Cunningham.
In other team news, the Boomers are now back at training and preparing for three pre-season games in the coming weeks.
Saturday September 10 vs Big V Invitational Team at Hillview Stadium, Rosebud (2pm).
Saturday September 17 vs Bendigo Spirit at Mars Minerdome, Ballarat (7pm).
