Boomers Can’t Hold Off Hot Shooting Flames

The Deakin Melbourne Boomers couldn’t hold off a hot shooting Sydney Uni Flames outfit down the stretch in an entertaining R12 game of the Wattle Valley WNBL season in Sydney.

Leading for most of the contest off the back of some of their own good shooting, the visiting Boomers went into the last period with a slender 63-60 lead, however a 26-15 final period gave the Flames the winning edge.

Alice Kunek (pictured) finished with 24pts for the Boomers, ably supported by Tess Madgen (16pts) and Shanae Greaves (11pts), while for the Flames it was Tahlia Tupaea (17pts) and Carolyn Swords (16pts) doing the most damage.

Between the two teams, 21 triples were delivered to keep the crowd cheering.

Next up for the Boomers is a trip to Bendigo on Saturday January 9 to take on the Spirit, a team they have beaten twice already this season.
