The Deakin Melbourne Boomers are set to celebrate Basketball Australia’s successful Aussie Hoops program this Saturday Night (Nov 21) when all Aussie Hoopers, boys and girls, will be invited to the Boomers vs Bendigo Spirit WNBL game for free.
As a part of the league-wide Aussie Hoops Round, the young aspiring players need only wear their Aussie Hoops singlet or t-shirt to receive a free ticket to watch, and then meet after the game, many of Australia’s leading women’s players.
“It’s a great initiative for the kids, and for the WNBL,” said Boomers GM, Justin Nelson, adding “This is exactly the type of promotion that makes basketball such a great sport to be involved in. Connecting the grassroots with the elite should always be our top priority. These Aussie Hoopers are the future of the game.”
“Here in Melbourne we are a very fortunate to have so many fantastic basketball associations doing the groundwork, growing the game and bringing these young boys and girls into the game. It’s a credit to all basketball associations that the Aussie Hoops program is so successful, not only in Melbourne, but right across Australia,” added Nelson.
Parents coming along with Aussie Hoops participants can either buy tickets at the door or online at www.trybooking.com/HLXE
