The Deakin Melbourne Boomers has extended the contract of General Manager, Justin Nelson, until 2019.
The move cements the off-court leadership group – that also includes Coach Guy Molloy and Commercial Operations Manager Lauren Jackson – set to take the club forward in coming years.
Melbourne Boomers Chair, Tony Hallam, said he looked forward to seeing Nelson build on his achievements in terms of growing memberships and supporter numbers, audience engagement and match attendance.
“Justin has been central to the growth of the Club over the past two years and the Board is very pleased he has agreed to extend his tenure as General Manager.”
“I’m confident we have the right management and leadership team to position the Melbourne Boomers for success in future seasons,” Tony said.
After joining the Boomers in late December 2014, Nelson has worked hard to increase support for the WNBL’s most iconic Club and identifies the next three years as an important period.
“First and foremost I’m surrounded by good people. Very good people. I genuinely feel like there is enormous love for this Club across the community and I want to try and take it onwards and upwards,” said Nelson.
“I respect that I’m just one part of it all. Together we have worked incredibly hard to put the right foundations in place, especially over the last six months, and I’m confident on-court success will follow.”
“I want to thank the Board for entrusting Guy, Lauren and myself with the task of leading the Boomers over the coming years,” added Nelson.
