A number of the Deakin Melbourne Boomers family have claimed top awards from the Victorian State League (Big V), with young guard Monique Conti (pictured) walking away from the awards ceremony at Etihad Stadium with three trophies.
Conti starred for her junior club Melbourne Tigers in the Victorian Youth Championship division, leading a number of stat categories for the season, ultimately leading her to winning the Most Valuable Player, Rising Star, All Star 5, Golden Hands and Top Scorer awards.
Another young guard, Cassidy Gould, claimed two awards for her season at Altona, winning the Rising Star and All Star 5 trophies, while Tegan Cunningham (State Championship Women All Star 5), Chelsea D’Angelo (Latrobe City / Youth Player of the Year in Division One Women) and Katrina Hibbert (Hume City / Coach of the Year in State Championship Women) were also recognised for their outstanding season.
With the State League season now finished, all five are heavily involved in preparing for the coming WNBL season, which starts for the Boomers with a Home Opener on Sunday October 9 against Adelaide.
