The Deakin Melbourne Boomers have ramped up preparations for the 2016/17 WNBL season with a successful Family Day that provided fans with a chance to see the team train and then meet the players for photos and autographs.
With strong membership sales and growing anticipation for the upcoming season, the Boomers are looking forward to continuing their growth across Melbourne, reaching out to all basketball associations and clubs to join the family club.
“It’s always great fun meeting our members and supporters, especially when those numbers are growing,” said Coach Guy Molloy after a busy afternoon on court.
“We are definitely seeing a surge in support, we are really focused on reaching out and playing our part in the basketball community. There’s some excitement for the future, it’s a good feeling,” added Molloy.
Next up for the Boomers is a three-day camp in Ballarat, which will include a game against Bendigo Spirit on Saturday September 17 (7pm tip-off), followed by a pre-season showdown against Dandenong Rangers on Friday September 23 at Nunawading Basketball Stadium.
“With just a month to go until our home opener, it’s all about training and preparation right now. We have plenty of work to do with all players now back on court. Busy times!”
