The Deakin Melbourne Boomers have applauded the news Fox Sports Australia will partner the WNBL for the next three years with a minimum of one game per week to be televised, along with the full finals series.
Boomers GM Justin Nelson signalled the announcement, made late on Anzac Day, as another positive step for the league.
“The Deakin Melbourne Boomers welcome Fox Sports Australia to the WNBL family. We are delighted this globally-elite competition has been recognised by a partner who is committed to showing our amazing athletes to supporters across Australia, and beyond,” said Nelson.
“Across Melbourne, the Boomers are focused on connecting with the huge grassroots level of the game and our rapidly growing crowd figures reflect that. With Fox Sports joining us it is terrific all aspiring young players, in particular all the girls out there, will now also get to see this elite-level league and its outstanding players on television as well.”
Further details are expected to be announced shortly.
Meanwhile, the Boomers will make a significant player announcement this Thursday morning (April 27).
