The Deakin Melbourne Boomers will close out the 2015/16 Wattle Valley WNBL season with a free function for all supporters after this Saturday night’s game against the SEQ Stars.
All players and coaches will be in attendance to personally thank sponsors and supporters for the atmosphere and continued support they bring to the team every time they hit the floor.
“The supporters have been amazing,” said coach Guy Molloy, adding, “Our crowd are up in a big way this season and there is no doubt the players have noticed that. It’s something that we talk about all the time.”
“Though we’ve been a bit hampered out on court, the fans have stuck with us the whole way and this Saturday is a small way in which we can say thank you,” added Molloy.
Following Saturday night’s game the players will conduct their normal on-court signing and photo session, before joining supporters and sponsors in the function room at the State Basketball Centre where they will mingle with everyone and say thank you for supporting the team.
“We’re a bit biased at the Boomers, we think we have the best fans in the WNBL, the atmosphere they create at games is often talked about by visiting teams. This Saturday we are celebrating 32 years of the Boomers in the WNBL, so I’m sure the supporters will also get the chance to meet some former players as well,” said Boomers GM, Justin Nelson.
“We wanted to say thank you and by throwing the doors open to the function room after the game is a great way for us to do that. We hope to see plenty of our supporters stick around to spend some time with the players and coaches.”
