In a first for Melbourne basketball, CTI Melbourne United and Deakin Melbourne Boomers have joined forces to offer basketball fans a Cup Weekend special that features two blockbuster games.
By using a special promo code (MUBC715) when booking a ticket online (www.ticketek.com.au) to Sunday’s huge NBL rivalry between CTI Melbourne United and Sydney Kings, fans can then present their ticket the following night on Cup Eve at the WNBL and gain free entry to see the Deakin Melbourne Boomers and Townsville Fire.
The concept, developed by Vince Crivelli (CEO, CTI Melbourne United) and Justin Nelson (GM, Deakin Melbourne Boomers), is aimed at showcasing both elite-level men’s and women’s basketball to the Melbourne community and encouraging fans of both the NBL and WNBL to get along and enjoy two big games on what is traditionally a great family-orientated long weekend.
“We are committed to working with and alongside the wonderful basketball community who provide so much support for us at CTI Melbourne United,” said Crivelli adding, “We will continue to demonstrate our commitment that currently includes both a financial and professional support of Basketball Victoria and the VJBL and are excited to work with Deakin Melbourne Boomers on this joint promotion.
“The WNBL is a world-class league filled with incredible basketball talent and the commitment the Boomers have to working with the grassroots basketball network in Victoria is second to none. I look forward to working closely with them on the celebration of our sport as much as possible,” added Crivelli.
Also recognising the positives of working together, Nelson believes the two-for-one ticket initiative is another exciting step that highlights the ability of both the NBL and WNBL to provide affordable and entertaining basketball for families.
“The community engagement CTI Melbourne United continue to drive is perfectly aligned with the focus we have at Deakin Melbourne Boomers, so the opportunity to bring this offer together will hopefully provide both teams with added support and continue the vision we share in building strong links between grassroots and elite levels of the game here in Melbourne,” added Nelson.
