Perth Lynx @ Canberra Capitals – Sunday preview

The Perth Lynx face a short turnaround ahead of their clash with the Canberra Capitals on Sunday 27 November.

Having earned an impressive road victory against the Townsville Fire, the Lynx head into Canberra looking for their second victory against the Capitals this season.

Sami Whitcomb led the way for the Lynx in their last meeting with Canberra, a 65-59 victory, scoring 23 points and adding eight rebounds, but Lynx head coach Andy Stewart praised his team’s balanced approach in their most recent outing.

“What I loved was the spread of scorers.”

“Everybody made a contribution.”

The battle of the day could be between Toni Edmondson and Canberra point guard Lauren Mansfield, with Edmondson’s defensive efforts against the lively point guard being noted by Stewart as a key matchup the last time these sides met.

“Mansfield’s their engine room and Toni just wore her down and wore her down.”

The Capitals also boast the fearsome interior duo of Mikaela Reuf (11.2 rebounds per gmae) and Marianna Tolo (10.0rpg); the top two rebounders in the WNBL.

“I was happy with the bigs (against Townsville), their effort level, I’m hoping that will continue through.”
The Perth Lynx play the Canberra Capitals on Sunday 27 November, with tip-off ste for 12:00pm WST.
