- Game Night
The Perth Lynx face the Dandenong Rangers on Sunday 16 October in the second leg of their weekend back-to-back.
After mounting a stunning fourth quarter comeback to claim victory against the Melbourne Boomers yesterday, the Lynx will look to complete their Victorian visit with a second victory in as many days.
Carley Mijovic has been a revelation this season, averaging 22.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, and is leading the WNBL in threes made (13) while shooting 62 per cent from deep.
The Dandenong Rangers come into Sunday’s clash on the heels of their own back-to-back, after facing the Bendigo Spirit on Saturday in a 44-59 loss.
The Rangers have struggled with the three ball this season, having knocked down just two across their two games thus far, though Sunday’s hosts have held opposing teams to just 25 per cent shooting form beyond the arc this season.
In a clash of offensive philosophies, Lynx head coach Andy Stewart will hope that his side’s up-tempo game plan and willingness to shoot from deep will open up the floor against a Dandenong outfit far more interested in operating on the interior.
Tenaya Phillips, who joined the Lynx starting unit for the first time against the Boomers, will enjoy her first chance to do battle with her ex-teammates from Dandenong, and will be joined by Monica Wright, Toni Edmondson and Carley Mijovic as Lynx players with Rangers connections.
“I’m excited to see everyone again,” said Phillips.
“I’m going to do what I can to prove myself; I’m looking forward to playing them.”
The Perth Lynx face the Dandenong Rangers on Sunday 16 October, with tip-off set for 2pm WST.
