- Game Night
The Perth Lynx have been defeated by the Dandenong Rangers, 74-94, in the second game of a back-to-back on their Victorian road trip.
The Lynx struggled from beyond the arc, shooting a season low 25 per cent from deep, while the Rangers connected on 50 per cent of their long range efforts.
Dandenong, who had made just 2-16 attempts from deep this season, were blistering from the outside, and used the three-ball to quell several runs made by the Lynx.
After a 12-0 run in the first quarter handed Dandenong the lead, the Lynx made several spirited attempts to get back into the game, including cutting a 17 point margin to just five before the main break.
A Kisha Lee three pointer saw the Lynx deficit shrink to just eight in the final term, but the Rangers were too good throughout and had an answer to every Lynx challenge.
Sami Whitcomb paced the team with 23 points and five rebounds, while Ruth Hamblin tallied 14 points, eight rebounds and a block.
Hamblin, and her front-court teammate Natalie Burton (seven points, four rebounds), tried to spark the Lynx with a scoring run in the fourth quarter, but the home team responded to each challenge before putting the game to bed with a late scoring flurry.
The Perth Lynx now return home with a 2-2 record on the season, and will be looking to return to the winner’s list as they host their first home game of the season on Saturday 22 October, when they face the Canberra Capitals.
Perth Lynx 74 – (Sami Whitcomb 23, Ruth Hamblin 14, Monica Wright 11)
