The Perth Lynx are opening their doors to you, the Red Army, in an exciting new initiative as you share our journey throughout the 2016/17 WNBL season.
Beginning Monday 19 September, all Perth Lynx training sessions will be open to the general public, while local coaches are encouraged to attend and have the opportunity to learn from Andy Stewart and the Lynx staff.
“We want to educate our community in what we’re doing, to familiarise them with the girls, and also help develop coaches,” said head coach Andy Stewart.
Fans who notify the club with their intent to attend training will be provided with notes for the session, containing a run sheet and particular areas of focus for the day.
At the conclusion of each session, fans will also have the chance to spend time with Stewart, assistant coach Ryan Petrik and strength and condition coach Darrell Morgan, to review the day’s training.
“After the session, the coaches will spend five minutes with them answering questions and working through things.”
Stewart highlighted the benefits of fostering a personal connection between the Perth Lynx and the community, and also outlined the potential benefits for WA coaches.
“Coaching is a drip-feed system.”
“If they can pick up two or three points in a session, that’s going to help them along the way.”
To notify the Lynx of your intent to attend an open training session, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org no later than one hour prior to the commencement of the training session.
