The Perth Lynx are pleased to announce the signing of American forward Kisha Lee.
Lee, 31, brings a wealth of experience to the Perth Lynx, having first broken out as a member of the UNLV Lady Rebels, and was quick to highlight her excitement at signing with the Lynx.
“I’ve heard nothing but great things about the organisation,” said Lee.
“It hasn’t taken very long for me, in my short time here, to recognise that this is a top-notch organisation.”
She recently played for Ansett in the Darwin Basketball Association, where her 19.0 points per game led the competition in scoring average, and has also represented Bundaberg in the Queensland Basketball League.
Capable of playing at both the small forward and power forward positions, Lee described herself as “versatile” and “an energy player”.
“Offensively, I can play with my back to the basket as well as facing the basket, and the same defensively – I can defend multiple positions.”
“I’m the type of player that likes to take advantages of mismatches whenever those opportunities show up.”
“I don’t have a preferred position. My preference comes with who’s defending me at the time.”
Lynx head coach Andy Stewart also reiterated the versatility that Lee brings to the table.
“The main thing that we felt that she offers was that she could play inside and outside; she’s a true three/four.”
“She’s mobile enough, and has a good enough perimeter game, to play the three spot, but she also has an incredible wingspan, some hops and some size to hold down the four spot,” said Stewart.
With both import spots having been filled by Ruth Hamblin and Monica Wright, the American born Lee signs for the Lynx as a permanent Australian resident.
With Lee signed, the Perth Lynx roster now stands at nine, as the team looks to go one better than their runner-up finish last season in 2016/17.
