Colleen Planeta moves east to join Flames

June 27, 2019 | Sydney Flames news

Brydens Sydney Uni Flames are pleased to announce American-Australian forward Colleen Planeta has signed on for the 2019-20 WNBL season.

Following three seasons with the MAC Adelaide Lighting which culminated in a grand final berth this year; a period with the highly successful Hume City Broncos in Big V where she won the competition’s MVP award twice, and time playing professionally across Europe after a strong college career at Point Loma Nazarene, Planeta’s basketball resume is solid.

On top of her ability, Planeta will add great value to the Flames roster by virtue of her experience.

Coach Katrina Hibbert agreed that her maturity will help balance the playing group, having experience coaching Planeta at the Hume City Broncos.

“I’m excited to get the opportunity to coach Colleen again and now at the WNBL level,” Hibbert said.

“She is very much a self-made player who has taken a unique path to get to where she is in Australia, showing resilience and persistence, which are personality traits I think are important in athletes.”

“She also brings a wealth of basketball experience and maturity to help balance out our team which I know the fans are going to enjoy watching.”

We look forward to seeing Colleen in action this season!
