On Monday 26 October 2015 Flames stars Nicole How and Carolyn Swords attended a Gala Sports Day run by the Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW (SFNSW) at Hurstville Aquatic Centre.
SFNSW are a non-profit organisation working to better the lives of those living with mental illness. SFNSW ensures these individuals and their relatives, carers and colleagues have sufficient access to resources and information, while working to eliminate stigma by helping to build a more understanding society.
Nicole and Carolyn worked with a group of adults, participating in a series of skill based activities before splitting into teams and playing a round robin of games on court.
Innovative programs such as the Sports Day run by SFNSW are invaluable given the importance of fostering good mental health in sport, and also the importance of engaging with community organisations looking to effect positive change.
We look forward to working with Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW again and thank them for their incredible work.
