We caught up with Hayley Moffatt for a one on one Q&A ahead of this Friday’s clash against Adelaide Lightning at Brydens Stadium.

Where were you born? Mossman, Queensland
Where do you call home? Mossman. Also, Melbourne. I have been living there on and off for 10 years.
What is the name of the first basketball team you played for? Mossman
Do you remember the name of your first coach? No!
Other than basketball, what is your favourite sport to play? Netball. I play Goal Defense.
Other than basketball, what is your favourite sport to watch? NFL – go the Patriots!
Is there any sport you don’t like? Soccer
What sport do you wish you could play and play well? Tennis
Would you rather go swimming or skiing? Snowboarding. I have been snowboarding at Mt. Hotham and Mt. Bulla in Victoria. I’m not quite a black runner through!
How do you feel about extreme sports? Love it – I love snowboarding and wakeboarding.
Do you follow one particular team in the WNBA? Not really, no.
Do you follow any particular team in the NBA? Cleveland Cavaliers.
Who is your sporting hero? Michael Jordan.
Who is your non-sporting hero? My dad.
How do you prepare for a game? Relax.
What is the first thing you want to do after a game? Eat. I love a bit of museli and yoghurt. And fruit.
What is your favourite piece of gym equipment or training exercise? Are beach sprints considered a training exercise? If so, beach sprints!
What is your least favourite piece of gym equipment or training exercise? Chin ups.
What is the most rewarding part of being an elite athlete? The friendships you make.
What is the most difficult part of being an elite athlete? Time management.
As a player, what is your biggest strength? Defence.
What has been the highlight of your sporting career? Finals last season.
What would you still like to achieve? Winning a championship would be nice!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? That’s a tough question. Hopefully settled down.
What is your one favourite thing about basketball? For me, the friendships I’ve made.
