JCU Townsville Fire captain Suzy Batkovic continues to pick up personal accolades after being named the Wattle Valley WNBL Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Fresh off being named the WNBL Player of the Month for October, the three-time league MVP is stalking a fourth gong after dominating the opening seven rounds of the season.
Batkovic proved the difference against SEQ on Friday night, securing a game-high 30 points to go with seven rebounds to lead the Fire to a three-point win.
The triple Olympian then backed up the performance with 23 points and seven rebounds against the University of Canberra – sitting during the dying stages of the game – after setting up the win in the opening half.
While pleased with her own form during the opening half of the season, Batkovic said she was focused on defending the Fire’s title.
“It’s been a good start to the season but I’m never happy,” Batkovic said.
“I’ve always been like that and I know there’s areas of my game that I can work on.
“Pleasingly, we got a pair of road wins like we needed and now we will turn our attention to Perth on Saturday night.”
