The Adelaide Lightning are thrilled to announce the signing of standout player and the club’s second import, Serena Sundell.

The 6’1 guard from Missouri was the 26th overall pick in the WNBA Draft for the Seattle Storm. Sundell shone when she hit the court at Kansas State, developing her skills and experience.

“I’m so excited to come to Australia and contribute to the excitement and energy of the WNBL. I’ve got no doubt that under the guidance of head coach Kerryn Mitchell I’ll learn a lot and become a stronger guard.” Sundell said.

“The Adelaide Lightning has such a strong legacy and championship-winning identity that I’m excited to learn from and contribute to.”

While at Kansas State, she was recognised as WBCA All‑America Honorable Mention (2025) and was the first Wildcat with 500+ points and 250+ assists while shooting at least 50% FG in a single season.

Head Coach Kerryn Mitchell said: “We can’t wait to have Serena join the Adelaide Lightning for the upcoming WNBL season. She’s coming off an excellent college career and is looking to come down to Australia to really lock-in, hone her skills and continue to grow and develop her game. We’re thrilled that we get to play a big part in that.”

“Serena’s game is not dissimilar to Kristy Wallace, she is strong, aggressive and has a nice midrange game.  I think she’ll be a great backcourt partner for Dallas, and I’m looking forward to watching them create havoc for opposition teams.”

Sundell will bring an electric spirit from the US to Adelaide ready for the WNBL season joining Steph Talbot, Sania Feagin, Jas Fejo, Ella Tofaeono, Sharne Robati, Ashlee Strawbridge, and Dallas Loughridge.
