Championship player returns to Bendigo

Reigning WNBL Champions Bendigo Spirit have secured the signature of Casey Samuels who has penned a two-year deal with the club.

Samuels is the first player to return from Bendigo’s historic Championship run last season. In the two Grand Final games, Samuels played 35.8 minutes total in the series sweep over Townsville.

During the regular season, the WNBL veteran averaged 9.8 points, four rebounds and shot 34 percent from the three-point arc in 24 games.

The second signing of the Free Agency period after Isabel Borlase, Samuels explained how excited she is to build on last season’s momentum.

“I’m really excited to stay with Bendigo and be continuing with the Spirit for at least the next two years,” Samuels said.

“Last year’s Championship win and everything we went through to get to that point was such a thrill to be a part of – even the tough moments – so I’m looking forward to getting the group back together and seeing what we can achieve as we work to defend our title.”
