The Gangurrus have taken gold in the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series in Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) ahead of the 3×3 World Cup.

Perth’s Anneli Maley, Townsville’s Miela Sowah, Ally Wilson and Marena Whittle defeated the tournament favourite USA 20-19 overnight.

With this win over the USA, Australia come into the World Cup with important momentum to try to claim their first gold medal finish. Australia has finished third in the 2012 and 2023 World Cups, respectively, with more recent gold medal finishes in the 2024 and 2025 3×3 Asia Cups.
