Keely Froling makes a flammable return

WNBL superstar Keely Froling will make her return to the Sydney Flames for the 2025/26 season.
Froling started her career in her hometown of Townville, playing limited games across two seasons. She then returned from college (The Texan SMU Mustangs) to sign with the UC Capitals, playing six seasons and winning back-to-back Championships in the nation’s capital.
Froling then signed with the Flames, captaining the team from 2021-2023, then moving to the then Melbourne Boomers during the 2023/24 season before making the move to Geelong last season.
In 12 games, she averaged 14.4 points, 9.8 assists and 1.7 assists before suffering a meniscus injury which ended her season in early January.
After making a full recovery in the off-season and now wearing the rust off in the NBL1 with Launceston, Froling says she cannot wait to return to the Flames.
“I want to be on a team that’s successful, and I can see that in Sydney, especially with the way the team, led by Guy (Molloy), played last season despite all of their adversity,” Frolling said.
“Add in the fact I enjoyed my first stint in Sydney’s professional environment and the move just felt right, and I’m really excited how it’s fallen into place.”
Froling has had a spectacular career thus far, excluding her WNBL success, she’s also won bronze for the Opals in the 2021 and ‘23 Asia Cups, respectively.
The two-way interior threat wants, above all, to play in a winning environment. And led by Head Coach Guy Molloy, Froling believes her second stint in Sydney is Championship-bound.
“I always feel I play my best basketball when surrounded by good players, and that’s exactly what we have in Sydney,” she said.
“The squad we have assembled all like to play hard and leave it all out on the court, which I know will be part of our identity this season.
“One person in particular I know that plays with plenty of energy each time she steps on the court is Lauren Nicholson, who is a player I’ve always admired and have had the honour of playing alongside for the Opals – so I’m really excited to team up with her in Sydney.”
Froling joins a talented roster for 2025/26, featuring the aforementioned Nicholson, Shaneice Swain, Emma Clarke, Anges Emma-Nnopu, Calra Pitman and import Grace Berger.
Keely will face off against her twin sister, Alicia, and new Flames teammate Emma-Nnopu in the NBL1 South this weekend. See the full game details here.
