Jasmine Dickey will return to the Southside Melbourne Flyers for her second season with the club, boosting the Flyers’ energy and interior scoring.

The 25-year-old American made a major impact during her first season in WNBL24, coming off the bench as a go-to scorer behind WNBL legend Lauren Jackson.

She truly shined in the Finals, averaging 14.6 points per game (6.2 more than the regular season) in the three-game Grand Finals series over the Perth Lynx – where the Flyers took home the WNBL24 Championship.

This past WNBL season, Dickey played in Iceland Bonus League, where she led the competition in scoring, averaging 29.1 points per game. Following that campaign, she joined the NBL1 South’s Keilor Thunder mid-season, currently playing under Southside Head Coach Kristi Harrower.

“We have seen how versatile she is, she can get to the rack and is also a great defensive stopper. I felt she was one of the key reasons Southside won the Championship series two years ago,” Harrower said.

“She not only has the polish, but she also does the grit work for the team and is a wonderful teammate, being prepared to play the role that is best for the occasion. She has a great work ethic and will be a great role model for the team, particularly our young developing players.”

Dickey shared the sentiment, saying winning the Championship was a blessing and she cannot wait to add another one.

“I am excited to be coming back to the Flyers. I had a fantastic experience with the Flyers two years ago, not just winning the Championship, but the whole experience on and off the court,” she said.

“Winning the Championship was obviously the highlight and I still have my photo with the trophy. The goal now is to do it again, this time with a new group, and I am confident we will have a very exciting and successful season.”

Dickey joins Maddison Rocci, Manuela Puoch, Isabelle Bourne, Cayla George, Haylee Andrews, Carley Ernst and Tera Reed on the WNBL26 roster.

Dickey, Bourne and Rocci will take on the 22-0 Geelong United (featuring multiple Venom players), on Saturday night. Watch the game live and free via NBL1.com.au or the NBL1 App.
