Geelong Venom is excited to announce its newest signing for the upcoming WNBL season, Mackenzie Clinch Hoycard.

Coming to Geelong after 5 years with the Perth Lynx, Mackenzie is excited to be joining the club at such an exciting time for both the club and the league.

“I loved playing against and watching Geelong last year in their first year. They play a super exciting and fun brand of basketball, so really excited to be a part of that and to be coached by Chris,” she said.

A reunion is on the cards with Mackenzie’s signing, as she once again teams up with Alex Sharp, who she spent three of her five season playing alongside of in Perth. “We’ve played a few seasons together previously and she’s a great player. It’s going to be really fun to team up with her again,” Mackenzie said.

Currently suiting up for the Warwick Senators in NBL1’s Western Conference, Mackenzie is currently averaging an impressive 15.14 points, 3 assists and 8.29 rebounds per game – And Geelong crowds can look forward to seeing this same intensity during the upcoming WNBL season, “I’ll definitely bring some leadership and a bit of experience to the team having been in the league for a few years now. I’m really keen to get out there with all the girls and see what we can do for this season.”

“We’re really excited with Mackenzie’s signing,” said GM of Pathways, Megan Moody. “She’s a high calibre athlete who will add a lot to the team both on scoring and defensively. With her five years in the league, she also brings great leadership to the squad as well, and we will look to her to guide our younger talent both on and off the court throughout the coming season.”
