Reigning Lynx MVP re-commits

Perth Lynx is excited to announce that reigning MVP, Ally Wilson, has confirmed her place at the club for the upcoming 2025-26 Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) season.
Despite being new to the Lynx last season, Wilson took to the environment like a duck to water, putting up career highs in both scoring and rebounding. Wilson finished the regular season ranked sixth in the League for assists (96), with impressive stats of 14.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, and was also named in the All-WNBL First Team for season 2024-25.
The 31-year-old guard has been an exceptional asset to Australian basketball since debuting in the WNBL in 2010 with Adelaide Lightning. Her accolades include – but are definitely not limited to – being named the WNBL Rookie of the Year in 2013-14, being a two-time WNBL Champion (with both the Townsville Fire and the Sydney Uni Flames), and in 2025 signing a training camp deal with WNBA outfit, Chicago Sky.
Having represented Australia in multiple tournaments, starting at the underage level in 2013, in recent years Wilson has become a fixture of Australia’s women’s 3×3 team, the Gangurrus. Wilson and the Gangurrus have competed at multiple FIBA 3×3 Asia Cups and FIBA 3×3 World Cups, with Wilson personally starring in the 2024 and 2025 Asia Cups, notching two tournament MVP performances, whilst also leading the Gangurrus to the gold medal on both occasions.
Wilson and the Gangurrus were also bronze medallists at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, however arguably Wilson’s career highlight to date is representing Australia at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Wilson was a member of Australia’s first-ever Olympic women’s 3×3 team – one that would go on to finish fifth.
The international assignments are continuing to roll for Wilson in 2025 – currently she is in China, as a member of the Australian Opals team contesting the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup in Shenzen from July 13 to 20.
Wilson said she was excited to lock in her immediate WNBL playing future in Perth at the Lynx.
“I’m excited to be back at Perth. I felt like I thrived in the system last year and really enjoyed playing basketball. I’m keen to be back playing under Ryan and hopefully bring my experience and leadership to bring a Championship back to Perth.”
Lynx head coach, Ryan Petrik, is likewise thrilled by Wilson’s re-commitment.
“As we’ve said before, Ally was someone we really, really admired from afar for years, and always thought could go to another level inside our system. To see her gain All-WNBL First Team selection, be in the MVP conversation, and become our Team MVP in year one at the club is a testament to her hard work and dedication to her craft. I can’t wait to coach her again, and see what heights she can reach in year two.”
Wilson is the latest Lynx player to announce their re-commitment to the club, joining Alex Ciabattoni, Steph Gorman, Anneli Maley and Kiara Waite on the roster for season 2025-26.
