Carley Ernst re-signs and is Ready to Fly

July 10, 2025 | Southside Flyers news

The Flyers are pleased to confirm Carley Ernst, a member of our 2024 WNBL Championship team, will continue her career with the Flyers for the next two seasons.

The 196cm centre is well known for her versatility and leadership, providing important guidance and direction for the team, on and off the court, as well as her ability to play tall at both ends of the court and of course, shoot the big three.

Ernst’s decision to re-sign with the Flyers was one that came down to feeling like home at the club.

“The Flyers have created an environment for not only me but other past and present players where we can still be athletes but, most importantly, be mums and have support around us to do so,” Carley said.

“Kristi and the club have put together such an exciting roster with a great mixture of players, and I’m so excited to be a part of this group and to get started to build with this group and push for a championship,” Carley added.

Ernst will reunite with championship teammate Cayla George for the next two seasons, which is a combination Flyers fans can expect to be excited about, something Carley is looking forward to.

“I’m so excited to be playing with Cayla again! Last time we played together, we won a championship. She’s someone you want on your team for her experience, leadership, and competitiveness. She brings so much energy to a team, and I know the club and fans are going to love having her be a part of the Flyers.”

After a troublesome back injury had her sidelined for most of the 2024/25 season, a fit and healthy Ernst will be welcomed by the team and the fans.

Flyers Head Coach Kristi Harrower is delighted that Carley is back with the Flyers.

“Carley is a very important player and person for our team.  She is a quality person and provides important leadership. We all know she can shoot the ball, but what is often overlooked is her inside game, at both ends of the court.

“Her absence for much of last season had a huge impact on the team, and we are looking forward to having her back and firing this season,” Kristi said.

Carley’s return to the Flyers this season will see her reach a milestone of 300 games in our season opener against the UC Capitals. This milestone will etch her into the history books and will join an elite group of WNBL legends to have played 300 games in this elite competition.

We often refer to the ‘Flyers Family’ and Carley is a great example as Carley and her family are an important part of every home game, and we look forward to seeing her son Kylan on court with “Mum” after the game.

As the 2025/26 WNBL season approaches, the Flyers, bolstered by Ernst’s commitment, are set to make a significant impact. Fans can look forward to a season filled with determination, skill, and the unwavering spirit that defines the Flyers.
