Championship Player Returns to the Flyers

July 24, 2025 | Southside Flyers news

The Southside Melbourne Flyers are thrilled to announce the signing of returning WNBL Champion Jasmine Dickey for the 2025/26 WNBL Season.

A proven performer, Dickey will bring elite experience and leadership to the young Flyers squad for the upcoming season. Her versatility and scoring ability will be crucial to the on-court success of the Flyers. Dickey will reunite with championship teammate Maddy Rocci and join the growing roster Head Coach Kristi Harrower is piecing together.

Dickey is eager to return to the Flyers and get to work with her new team, and a big reason why she decided to sign and return to the Flyers is to be able to help the team compete for a championship again.

Speaking on joining a new list, she said that she is looking forward to playing with Rocci and Issie Bourne, whom she is currently playing with in the NBL1 at Keilor for the remainder of the season.

“I am excited to be coming back to the Flyers. I had a fantastic experience with the Flyers 2-years ago, not just winning the championship, but the whole experience on and off the court.

“Winning the championship was obviously the highlight, and I still have my photo with the trophy. The goal now is to do it again, this time with a new group, and I am confident we will have a very exciting and successful season,” Jasmine said this week.

In her debut WNBL season at the Flyers, she made an immediate impact, contributing significantly to our championship run. Dickey’s ability to provide instant offense and defensive versatility off the bench was a key factor to our success in the 2023/24 season. Notably, she scored 19 points off the bench at 85% shooting efficiency in the Grand Final against the Perth Lynx, helping to secure the championship for the Flyers.

Her performance with the Flyers in the WNBL showcased her adaptability and skill, which laid the foundations for future international opportunities. After leaving the Flyers in their championship season, she signed with Keflavik of the Icelandic Urvalsdeild kvenna. This marked her first season of European basketball and allowed her to gain invaluable international experience, which she will bring to the floor for the Flyers this season.

“Jasmine will play a big role in our team. We have seen how versatile she is; she can get to the rack and is also a great defensive stopper. I felt she was one of the key reasons Southside won the Championship series two years ago.

She not only has the polish, but she also does the grit work for the team and is a wonderful teammate, being prepared to play the role that is best for the occasion.

She has a great work ethic and will be a great role model for the team, particularly our young developing players,” said Head Coach Kristi Harrower on the signing of returning champion Jasmine Dickey.

A fan favourite from our Championship season, Jas will be welcomed back with open arms and will bring the spark and energy on the court as the Flyers look to make another charge at championship glory in the 2025/26 WNBL season.
