Flames prepare for WNBL26 free agency to tip-off

With the WNBL26 season fast-approaching, the competition has announced that its free agency period will tip-off at 12pm AEST on Monday, June 2.
Heading into the free agency period, the Sydney Flames are well-positioned with Lauren Nichsolon, Shaneice Swain, Emma Clarke and Carla Pitman all contracted for the 2025-26 campaign.
With this in mind, Flames CEO of Basketball Chris Pongrass is excited about what the future holds for Guy Molloy’s squad.

“Heading into this period, our first port of call was extending Shaneice Swain’s contract and re-signing Sydney talents Lauren Nicholson and Carla Pitman – all of which we’re thrilled about,” said Pongrass.
“With four of our 10 contracted players already locked away, we’re in a great spot heading into free agency.
“Our goal is now to complement these four with strong, local talent and two high-level imports, to build on last year’s success.”
