Garlepp’s Gems defeat Argentina to book quarter-final spot
Sydney Flames’ Renae Garlepp and her Australian Gems are into the quarter-final stage of the 2025 FIBA under 19s World Cup, after defeating Argentina 95-46 on Wednesday evening.
The Gems, headlined by Flame #228 Bonnie Deas, jumped out to a 22-6 lead at quarter-time and never looked back by winning each quarter, to punch their spot in the final eight of the Czech Republic-based tournament.
Garlepp’s side, who are now 3-0 in the tournament, will now face Hungary in the quarter-finals, after the latter defeated 77-51 in their match-up.
That match-up, which tips off at 7.45pm Friday night Sydney time, will be streamed live via the FIBA YouTube channel.

The winner of this fixture will take on either Canada or Japan in the semi-final.
