Sydney Flame #226 Celeste Taylor has been unveiled as the assistant coach of the Grand Canyon University women’s team for the 2025-26 season.

Taylor, who spent the WNBL26 season with the Flames and averaged 10.7 points, 3.4 boards, three assists and 1.8 steals per contest, joins the staff of Winston Gandy – with the two spending two seasons together as Duke between 2021 and 2023.

During those two seasons in Durham, Taylor starred for the Blue Devils and earned multiple accolades, including ACC Defensive Player of the Year, All-ACC Defensive Team and All-ACC first team in 2023.

“This is his first time as a head coach, and it’s at a program like GCU that’s definitely up-and-coming and growing and a beautiful university, but I’m definitely grateful for him giving me the opportunity,” Taylor told ESPN.

“He wants to put the best people around him, so for him to look to me and believe in me, to be able to help him is a blessing.”

Taylor’s stint at the Hoops Capital club ended prematurely due to a foot injury, which carried into her pre-season training camp with the Phoenix Mercury – which ultimately saw her waived in the final roster cuts before the regular season.

Taylor has stated she will spend the summer recovering from the injury and hopes to return to the WNBA in 2026.
