Fire take care of Business in a clinical win over the Flames

In a Sydney showdown between the Flames and Fire it was the latter that brought the heat. Townsville took a 12 point lead to quarter time and extended the advantage to22 by the main break. The visitors kept their foot on the throat retuning from the dressing sheds, and another dominant quarter had them ahead by 33 points at the start of the fourth period. And that was the full time margin. 83-50 with the Fire securing a season series sweep and an eighth straight victory.

“Yeah I’m having so much fun I’m learning a lot every day from people like Woody and Coxy, and just having a good time.”
Not surprisingly the Fire’s forwards feasted on buckets playing against much smaller opponents. With a mounting injury toll to their tall timber, the Flames were severely undersized and Alicia Froling, Nia Coffey, Alex Fowler and Lauren Cox all took advantage. Fowler and Cox claimed double digits, scoring 13 and 12 points respectively. The team’s tally of 44 points in the paint pleased Cox.
“We had a miss match at one end but they also had a miss match on the other end but we had a good game plan coming in and I thought we executed really well.”
The import’s adamant Townsville’s timing its run with the playoffs getting underway next week.
“Yeah we have a really good group here everybody wants to win and everybody’s locked in.”
