Garbin named QBL Player of the Week

JCU Townsville Fire championship winner Darcee Garbin has been announced as the QBL Player of the Week for the second time in 2017.
Having started her QBL career in blistering fashion, Garbin was spectacular at the weekend as she posted-back-to-back double-doubles for the Townsville Flames.
In an overtime loss to Gladstone, the 22-year-old top-scored with 34 points and 18 rebounds before backing up the next night against Rockhampton with 31 and 10.

Garbin’s hot form was acknowledged earlier this week with selection in the Australian side at the World University Games in August.
It will be the power forward’s second visit to the biennial event after featuring in 2015.
Meanwhile, Fire recruit Marena Whittle has been named to the SEABL Team of the Week after starring for Nunawading.
Over the course of the weekend, the versatile guard averaged 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 3.0 assists against Hobart and Launceston.
