Triple double alert for Fire star

JCU Townsville Fire star Micaela Cocks has posted a commanding triple double to commence this week’s Winter Update.
Fresh off leading New Zealand to a gold medal at the FIBA Asia Cup 3 x 3, Cocks was simply brilliant for Townsville in the QBL at the weekend as she posted 25 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Flames to a 101-67 victory over Rockhampton.
The 2015/16 Rachael Sporn Medallist shot 60% from the field including four-of-six from beyond the arc, while also registering a steal and a block during a polished performance.
Championship-winning teammate Darcee Garbin top-scored for the Flames with 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Queensland Country Health Fund Academy rep Harriet Carey enjoyed a career-high 23 points on seven-of-eight shooting from the three-point line.
Logan suffered back-to-back losses as Southern Districts recorded a 70-55 win over the Thunder.
Despite the loss, Zitina Aokuso continued her hot start to the season with a game-high 20 points and 13 rebounds.
Mikhaela Donnelly was the next best for the Thunder with 11 points and five assists.
In the SEABL competition, Tess Madgen and Dandenong enjoyed a bye but will return to the floor on Sunday when they host Bendigo in a blockbuster.
Bendigo boasts a 5-2 record to start the season thanks to Kelly Wilson, who is averaging an incredible 11.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and 9.8 assists to lead the way for the Lady Braves.
